Every year the Country Thunder festival takes over Shadow Hill Ranch in Twin Lakes, WI. The four-day long country music festival runs from Thursday, July 18th to Sunday, July 21st.
According to the official website, this year’s festival completely sold out back in January. Passes for all four days were selling for as low as $99 and popular campsites sold quickly.
This year’s line up features country music superstars Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Hunter Hayes, Jake Owen and many more.
Here are some tips to get through all four days of Country Thunder and how to have a great time:
Beyoncé is furious with clothing brand, H&M, after the company tried to photoshop out her curves in a recent photo shoot for their summer collection.
After unflattering photos of Beyoncé were released following her Super Bowl performance, her publicists have insisted on approving of all photos of the superstar before they are released. When Beyoncé found out the clothing company had tried to tone down her curves a source said, “She’s a true diva and was furious that she had been given such a snubbing.”
After discussions between Beyoncé’s people and H&M, the two parties agreed upon using the original undoctored photos for the ad campaign.
Call her a diva all you want for making these demands, but I love her for it. In today’s society young girls have a skewed idea of beauty because of what they see in the media. You can’t help but love when a high profile celebrity like Beyoncé isn’t afraid to love her bootylicious curves.
Grant Harris is a pop singer and DJ from Chicago, IL. Harris is better known by his stage name, GOLDHOUSE.
Formerly known as “Breathe Electric,” Harris announced via YouTube his decision to change the band’s name. Harris stated in the video, “Who I am as an artist now is so completely different than who I was even eight months ago that this new music and this new record needed to be released under a new identity.”
Normally I don’t typically listen to this type of music, but there’s something about GOLDHOUSE that is infectious. Maybe it’s the catchiness of every song or the fact that GOLDHOUSE actually performs live with a band and isn’t just some guy behind a laptop pressing play. Whatever it is, I like it.
GOLDHOUSE has released three EPs titled “Acoustic EP,” “The Morning After,” and “All Night Long.” He is currently working on a fourth EP and has teamed up with Pledge Music to have fans help fund the recording process and in exchange they will receive various prizes for their donation.
This summer GOLDHOUSE will be playing the entire Vans Warped Tour. The tour starts in Seattle, WA on June 15th and ends in Houston, TX on August 4th. Click here to see when the Vans Warped Tour will be near you.

The X-Factor UK’s 2011 winners, Little Mix, have released their first studio album, “DNA.” The girl group was The X-Factor’s first group to ever win the show. I recommend listening to the tracks “DNA,” “Wings,” and “Stereo Solider.”

UK alternative rockers Snow Patrol have released a greatest hits album. This compilation is complied with songs from all previous six studio albums dating back to 1998. My favorites on the greatest hits album are “Chasing Cars,” “The Lightning Strike (What If This Storm Ends?),” and “Take Back the City.”

R&B singer The-Dream has released his fifth studio album, “IV Play,” on Def Jam Records. “IV Play” features collaborations with artists, such as, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Fabolous, and Kelly Rowland. I recommend listening to the tracks “High Art (feat. Jay-Z),” “IV Play,” and “Turnt (feat. Beyoncé & 2 Chainz).
Vampire Weekend’s third album, “Modern Vampires of the City,” has debuted at number on the billboard charts. This is the rock band’s second number one album after their 2010 release, “Contra,” reached number one and was certified gold buy the Recording Industry Association of America.
Country star George Strait’s album, “Love Is Everything,” debuted at number two. Pop-star Demi Lovato’s self-titled album debuted in the number three spot.
Previous number one, Lady Antebellum, has dropped to number five on the Billboard 200. The country trio falls one spot below last week’s number two, the soundtrack to the film “The Great Gatsby.”
Lana Del Ray has made the largest leap up the charts. Jumping up 60 spots her “Paradise (EP)” has gone from #165 to #105 in it’s 18th week on the charts. The soundtrack to the Marvel movie “Iron Man 3” has taken the biggest fall down the charts after peaking at #16. The soundtrack has fallen nearly 100 spots from #97 to #196 in only it’s third week on the charts.
Last night I was fortunate enough to attend the 10th Anniversary Tour for New Found Glory’s album “Sticks and Stones” at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. New Found Glory is one of my all time favorite bands and I was heartbroken when I had to miss the first part of the tour in late 2012, but they announced Part II of the tour and I was more than excited to be able to attend. It blows my mind that I’m now old enough that some of my favorite bands are going on 10th anniversary tours of their albums and I can actually remember when that album came out.
New Found Glory brought openers Living With Lions and Cartel out on the road with them for this 17-city tour.
I have never listened to Living With Lions, but I definitely was not disappointed with their performance. They’re a great band who I will definitely be listening to more.
Cartel, however, is a band I’ve been listening to since I was 15. Last night was the first time I’ve ever seen them and I felt like I was 15 again. They were great and I can’t believe I have waited this long to see them play.

Cartel playing “Say Anything (Else)”
New Found Glory was incredible! They played the entire “Sticks and Stones” record from start to finish. They then encored with about six or seven songs from other New Found Glory albums. At one point, guitarist Chad Gilbert gave his guitar to their guitar tech to play and he jumped down into the crowd and sang the remainder of the song. There were mosh pits, circle pits, and crowd surfers; everything a pop-punk show should have.

Not only did I get to see one of my all time favorite bands, but I also got to meet The Strive who I wrote about recently. The Strive is a band I have been a fan of for the past 3 years and I have come to call them my friends over that time. Last night I got to finally meet them in person for the first time. They’re currently following the Sticks and Stones tour throughout the midwest, playing acoustic songs for everyone waiting inline outside the venue every night, meeting new fans and doing some promotional things. If you see them at a show, make sure to say hi!
